2022: Wellness, Care & Fun

I feel that a number of us might be planning to gently welcome in 2022 versus the usual “this is gonna be the best year” narrative!

I will be more reflective & understated this New Years Eve. Whilst I will not be jumping around like a looney, loving the fireworks & thrilled at the promise of my ambitious New Year goals, I still believe there is a lot of value in releasing the past year by reflecting on what it delivered that we do have some control over. This helps complete it & be ready & as resilient as possible heading into the unknown year ahead.

Reflection is a potent exercise & one I encourage as part of an achieving with wellbeing toolkit. During reflection I encourage acknowledgement, self celebration areas of learning, areas of self forgiveness (it’s OK we all lost it at times!!) & to acknowledge what was missing that would nurture & support you more, e.g. boundaries.

BOUNDARIES flew out of the lockdown window for many. The boundaries between work & play became very blurred. They disappeared at a time when they were required more than ever. We would discover this more as time went on. The recent stats on burnout here in NZ back this up.

I witnessed many succumbing to fatigue from constant switch ON & overdoing with little breaks. I too felt & experienced the dark layers of stressful lockdown circumstances & kept on pushing, losing sight of some of my boundaries.

So as a coach to high performing, ambitious achievers who would normally be focusing on what fantastic things we are going to achieve together, what would I suggest we vision for this coming year?

I would suggest we hold a personal & collective vision around the theme of wellness & care. Wellness of yourself & those in your charge & care of YOU!!

A side product of overload is seriousness & I’m all about enjoyment & fun, so to add to my theme of WELLNESS & CARE is…FUN!

How about you? What is your theme & vision for 2022? Mine… is for my creative & unconventional self BEING truly committed to showing up constantly, lightly (& sometimes not so!) & authentically. To nurture myself & others, to support the action of what is best for right now, to rest when needed, to play regularly, to laugh, and to assist beautiful leaders & masters of their craft!

Go well into 2022 everyone, step solidly yet with agility! Who knows if we’ve got this…but let’s have each other! 🧡 🧡
