Self care is a non negotiable

Long work hours needed to get your job done?

"Work 'til you drop!" Let's debunk that myth right now. πŸ™…β€β™€οΈ

In the world of high performance and leadership, there's a common belief that senior positions require long hours to succeed.

But, guess what? That's an old-fashioned, outdated view. Overworking can often signify a lack of self care.

Effective leaders prioritise self-care. They understand that when they look after themselves with play and rest outside the gate they perform much better within it. They experience more enjoyable productivity. The global 4 day week experiment is showing us this.

I'm a firm believer in taking space and time for yourself if you wish to perform at your best and to sustain this long term. hashtag#notfalloffthecliff

The power of introspection and balance is not to be underestimated.

Reflect. Recharge. Learn. Connect. Prioritise well-being. Grow. Iterate... Then do it all over again.

And if you love your role…that’s great. However be aware that due to the lofty feels of working your purpose you can start to validate the long hours, while it slowly erodes your mental and physical health and relationships. hashtag#creepsup hashtag#boom

Key questions to consider:

🧠 Do I regularly work more than my contracted hours?

🧠 Do I have good work boundaries and can say NO?

🧠 Am I working smart or working long & hard?

🧠 How often do I fully connect to my zone of genius?

🧠 Do I sleep well?

🧠 Do I play well?

🧠 Am I present and engaged?

🧠 Do I make time for self-reflection and self-care?

🧠 Do I exercise regularly, get out in nature?

🧠 Do I role model self care behaviours to my team?

Many of us underestimate the potential for success when we prioritise our own well-being. And we overestimate what we can achieve with constant overwork.

Self care is a non negotiable component of sustainable success and personal fulfilment.
