YOU ROCK
I feel sorry for leaders!
Yes, I do. It struck me today that there are SOOOOOO MANY posts, articles, webinars etc aimed at them.
On how they can become better leaders, what they can improve on, how they should lead, how they should manage their teams wellbeing, what the latest stats of quiet quitting and burn out in the workplace are, and the list goes on…and on.
There is an entire industry dedicated to this and so many have jumped on the wagon in the past few years. I’m unsure as to why this is and the thoughts that I do have swimming around need further exploring. 🤨
As I came across a “leaders can do better” theme in a LI post this morning I felt an uncomfortable twitch. Asking myself what I may have added to this constant stream of advice and suggestions.
I’d like to think that inefficient or ineffective leaders are the exception. Every one of us can improve and aim for continual growth and wisdom. We learn by our mistakes and when you make a mistake as a leader it’s usually comes with highly visible consequences – it’s tough.
Leading humans is a challenge right? Dealing with the human factor in business is one of the most challenging tasks for anyone. Humans are amazing, incredible beings, but boy or boy, let's be frank...we are pretty tough to lead.
Leadership can be rewarding and joyful. It can also be an unforgiving, relentless, isolating and heavy place.
If you are in a position of leading a small team, a large team, a community group, a team of other leaders, a company, a small business, whatever it may be, can I just take a moment to say... I THINK YOU ARE AWESOME!
Thank you for stepping up, thank you for being brave and courageous and thank you for your time spent with others listening, nurturing, encouraging and supporting.
YOU ROCK…keep going…and remember to have fun doing it!💚
